Being part of a new beginning makes me warm and fuzzy inside. I honored to be was able to photograph Uy & Thu’s new chapter in their road to parenthood. Theses photographs will last them for the years to come, and perhaps lead well into the next generation and create a history. Parenthood isn’t an easy task to undertake, there are no short cuts nor a manual to go by–it all comes down to love and parental instinct–and Uy & Thu definitely showed that they were ready to give their little guy everything they’ve got to ensure a wonderful happy baby.
It’s that lovely time of the year again…Prom Night! This is the night everyone gets their best attire out and their best look for this grand finale that they’ll remember for the years to come. This one is for the books! I was given the opportunity to photograph Nick & Yu before they dashed off in their carriage to Prom. These two were absolutely fun to photograph, despite their initial camera shy (who doesn’t get those jitters?!) Especially as they were completely new to being professionally photographed. They had the charm, the glow, and the love for one another — they rocked Prom even before it started!
Hong & Hai are back…with plus one, Alex! Hey there ‘lil dude! I’m so excited to be able to photograph Alex’s first time in the wilderness and in front of a camera! Alex had a wonderful temperament, which really made capturing tender moments a breeze. He didn’t whimper or cry one bit, and i’m sure it had to do with all the love and warmth Hong & Hai provided him throughout the session.
There are times where you just have to break away and just feel the love. This lovely couple did just that. Initially they were relatively camera shy, but their love for one another shines through nevertheless. Taken under the warm Autumn light, their love radiated profoundly. Being able to capture these two love birds before their wedding day was a blessing. It didn’t take long before they got intimate with one another and disregarding the camera being there. I just love creating an intimate moment where couples can be themselves…More to come.
Remember the time when a sweet and loving lady wanted to give you free haircuts mainly to explore their inner hair-styling passion? No? Me either, but this handsome fella here does. Funny story indeed when I got Hollie to spill the beans on how she managed to capture Jack’s attention (by the way, each haircut session lasted to at least…at least 4 hours (yep). The kicker is that Jack had no idea that his future wife had the game plan all panned out and this was only the beginning…
There is nothing more exciting and amazing than starting a new chapter by having a new addition to a family. I was honored to be chosen to capture these special moments that will last a lifetime for Hai & Hong. I cannot explain how magical it was to witness the love and care these two loving soon-to-be parents showed towards their ‘coming soon’ baby boy, Alex. You could see that they were both going to be amazing parents as they are as human beings by watching their love shine throughout the session. With roughly two and a half months left of pregnancy, Hong looks wonderful! From the way she sounded on the phone with me, it sounded like she was the size of a football stadium, but truth be told, or in this case, photos be told, she’s not even close to the size of a football stadium. I tried to aim for locations where the sunlight and the heat wouldn’t roast our lovely couple, but luckily being near the coast helped with the heat. The opportunity to create a memorable story through my lens for Hai and Hong live in each photo, telling their story of how they forged their love from the very beginning.
I must say, Aldean & Rebeka’s wedding was amazingly heroic! Being able to be part of their wedding and capturing moments that they will never forget was an honor. Their wedding followed the Vietnamese tradition of the groom arriving to the bride’s house early morning to pay their respects by bringing gifts to the family. Shortly after the introductions, speeches, and offerings, they proceeded to the traditional tea ceremony where the groom would serve the bride’s parent’s tea, and the bride would serve the groom’s parents tea. It was certainly interesting as to see how they would mix Filipino traditions into the ceremony since the groom was of Filipino descent, but it all went very smoothly indeed (considering seeing how nervous Aldean looked!). Telling you the whole process is very different from witnessing the whole ceremony–it was intense, very exciting, and long!
Photographing my lovely wife and son went very well considering how hard it is to really get your little one to cooperate with you (that’s why it’s also very rewarding when you capture the good ones!). Aidan had a nice feeding and a short power nap prior to his first official photo shoot with his personal photographer. I chose to do this session at around 4:00 P.M. to catch the warm sun rays and the perfect lighting to create a warm feel to the photos, as well as the perfect sun flares. With all the trees and sun spots all over the ground, it was the utmost gorgeous time to shoot. I was able to get many amazing shots until the little guy got exhausted from all the fun. The captured moments provided nothing more than pure love, affection, and the powerful bond between mother and child.
